The 143rd Infantry Regiment is a unit of the <a href="https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/Texas%20Army%20National%20Guard">Texas Army National Guard</a>.
History: The regiment traces its lineage back to the pre-Civil War militia units of Texas. It was officially constituted on 19 September 1917 in the National Guard as the 6th Texas Infantry.
World War I: Drafted into federal service during World War I, it was redesignated as the 143rd Infantry and assigned to the <a href="https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/36th%20Infantry%20Division">36th Infantry Division</a>. The regiment saw action in France.
World War II: The 143rd Infantry Regiment again served in the 36th Infantry Division during World War II. It participated in the Italian Campaign, including the landings at <a href="https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/Salerno">Salerno</a> and Anzio, as well as the invasion of Southern France. The regiment earned numerous battle streamers for its actions.
Post World War II: Following World War II, the regiment was reorganized and redesignated numerous times.
Present Day: As of the current date, elements of the 143rd Infantry Regiment continue to serve as part of the Texas Army National Guard, contributing to both state and federal missions. It is often involved in disaster relief and homeland security operations.
